How to use
Paste your lyrics
Put each sung line on its own line. Keep labels such as [Verse 1] or Chorus on their own lines too.
Select Hyphenate
Each word is split into sung syllables. Labels, blank lines and punctuation stay where they were.
Check, then copy
Look over the words to check, fix anything in the result box, then copy it or download a .txt file.
Paste into your notation program
Songs need every sung syllable split, not just the line-break points a dictionary shows, because each syllable sits under its own note. Section labels such as [Verse 1] stay on their own lines and are never hyphenated, so copy one section at a time without its label.

Dorico
Dorico does not hyphenate lyrics itself. Copy the result, select the first note in Write mode and press Shift-L to open the lyrics popover. Then press Ctrl-V (Cmd-V on a Mac) once for each word or syllable.
Sibelius
Paste the lyrics into the score, or download the .txt file and import it as lyrics from a text file to add them all in one go.
MuseScore Studio
Copy the result, select the first note and press Ctrl+L (Cmd+L on a Mac). Then press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V) repeatedly to paste one syllable at a time.
Finale
Choose the Lyrics tool and paste the result into the Lyrics window. Then choose Click Assignment from the Lyrics menu and click the first note.
Questions
Is the lyrics hyphenator free?
Yes. It is free to use and needs no sign-up or account.
Are my lyrics saved?
No. Your lyrics are sent to our server only to be hyphenated, then discarded. They are not saved or logged, and there is no history.
Which languages does it support?
English for now.
What happens to words it does not know?
They are left exactly as you typed them and listed under Words to check. The tool does not guess, so you decide how they are sung.
How much can I paste at once?
Up to 5,000 characters without signing in, which is usually a whole song, or 10,000 with a free account. For a longer piece, hyphenate it a few sections at a time.
